Chattz is a privacy-focused social and messaging platform operated in the European Union (EU).
What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Comments
When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
Messages and Chats
When you send private, group, or community messages, your messages are stored securely on our servers.
Messages are encrypted server-side using AES-256 encryption but are not end-to-end encrypted.
Authorized moderators may access message content only when necessary to enforce guidelines or investigate abuse reports.
Chattz does not display read receipts to senders.
Posts and Media Uploads
Posts can include text, images (including base64-encoded images), or video URLs.
All post data is stored securely.
We recommend removing EXIF location data from photos before uploading.
User Profiles
When creating an account, we collect:
- Name, username, and email
- Birthday or age (used for age-appropriate access – minimum 13 years)
- Interests or community topics you select
- Optional profile and banner images
Profile and banner images are publicly visible.
You can customize your Chattz appearance (themes, font size, chat bubble colors); these preferences are stored with your account.
Followers, Groups and Communities
When you follow someone, join a group chat, or become part of a community, we store the relationship data (e.g., who follows whom, and which groups or communities you’ve joined).
Member lists in groups or communities may be visible to other participants via the “View Members” panel.
Community owners can see and manage basic member information (username, profile photo).
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
If you enable 2FA, your account will generate a secure secret key used by your authentication app (e.g., Aegis Authenticator).
This secret key is stored only on our server and your device, never shared or transmitted externally.
2FA codes themselves are never stored or logged.
Cookies
We use cookies to enhance your experience, including:

- Password reset emails include your IP address for security logging.
- Automated moderation and spam-detection tools may process limited data (IP and username patterns).
- Legal requests or EU-based law enforcement orders may require data disclosure.

All Chattz data is stored on secure servers located within the European Union (EU).
Comments may be checked using automated spam detection services.
Data Visibility and Limitations
- Messages are encrypted on the server but may be accessed by authorized moderators when necessary.
- Uploaded images and files can be viewed by anyone with the direct URL.
- Chattz does not guarantee absolute privacy for shared media – please upload responsibly.
Children’s Privacy
A restricted version with limited features is applied automatically to users aged 9–12.
Accounts belonging to underage users may be restricted or deleted to comply with regulations.
Accounts for users under 13 require verified parental consent via email before full access is granted.
Automated Decision Making
Chattz does not use algorithms to determine your feed or content visibility.
Content is personalized only based on your chosen interests and communities — never for advertising or profiling purposes.
